Pokkén Tournament Catches Grass Starter

PokkenTournament_PikaLibreYou caught a Sceptile! Would you like to give a nickname to Sceptile? No, of course not. That’s lame. Who does that?

Announced via a new trailer on their YouTube channel, developer Bandai Namco has revealed that 3rd Gen Grass-type Pokémon Sceptile has joined the roster of the upcoming fighting game, Pokkén Tournament. The video shows the fully-evolved starter squaring off with Gengar, the legendary Suicune, and even Fire-type Pokémon! There’s even a few of the assist Pokémon shown. Check it out below!

With this addition, the current roaster is Sceptile, Lucario, Blaziken, Charizard, Gengar, Suicune, Gardevoir, Pikachu, Weavile, and “Pikachu Libre”. There’s also a “Shadow Mewtwo” boss character, which you can either unlock in-game or through the use of a special Amiibo card.

Pokkén Tournament is scheduled to be released worldwide on the Wii U in Spring of 2016 and is already available in Japanese arcades. According to Nintendo, in Pokkén Tournament, “Pokémon appear more lifelike than ever before, with amazing graphics and smooth, fluid movements” while the game “brings tight gameplay and incredible control to never-before-seen battles between Pokémon” with an easy pick-up-and-play style. Sounds like it’ll be a good time if you like games like Tekken. Anyway, whether you want to catch ’em all, beat ’em all (to a pulp), or just see what’s going on in Kanto, GripYaJoystick and keep it here for all your Pokémon (and, y’know, other gaming) news.
