007 First Light officially revealed as the title for Hitman dev's James Bond game, and we'll see it in action later this week

IO Interactive officially dropped the first real news about the James Bond game in development since it was first announced in 2020. The game was called 007 First Light, and IO revealed it in just one art on Twitter.

The good news is that IO is planning some big events this week so there’s no need to wait too long to actually see more.

In addition to this teaser, the developers also announced their first showcase. Called the IOI Showcase, this event is held in-person in Los Angeles Friday, June 6th. It’s also live streamed, of course 6pm, 9pm, 2am in the UK.

As you may have already noticed, it will be a 2pm PT on the same day, hours after the summer Game Fest kickoff show. It’s very likely that Geoff Keighley’s show will bring a first look teaser that will guide viewers to the showcase that will take place in a few hours later.

IOI Showcase will provide the first look of gameplay, but will also provide upcoming updates to IOI partner games such as Mindseye and hitman news for proper measurements.

007 First Light does not have a release target. It was first announced as a multi-platform title (and the start of the trilogy), but the only one officially confirmed is the upcoming Switch 2. Friday’s event will certainly make it all clear for us, and it may even offer a proper release date for one of the most mysterious games currently in development.

007 First Light is a story of origin with original characters that are not based on the depiction of the film’s existing bonds. It stars young James Bond in his own story in another Canon.
