Best Tips for Playing the Duchess in Eldenling: nightreign

It’s time to play her after unlocking the Duchess. You need to know the best time to use her ultimate art and ensure what situations are using her ultimate art. Most importantly, you need to know when to save your abilities. This should ensure that you don’t waste damage or exacerbate your team’s chances when they survive.

1. Use resend after the ultimate or after the main status effect

The Duchess is about to use a reply in Eldenling's Ultimate Wider: nightreign.

You should always save the RESTAGE until after a major damage explosion. It’s the ultimate and a status effect, such as bleed, repost, or a combination of three. If you and your team can sync the ultimate breedout and Riposte, you can reposition about 50% of its massive damage burst to instantly reapply.

Restage is in a short cooldown so you need to use it freely. Using garbage enemies is still a waste, so try saving at least for the mini boss enemies. You’ll also want to play at least a few matches with most other night fackers to get a better understanding of cooldown and damage output. If Wylder doesn’t know how and when he will use his abilities, there’s no way to estimate when his teammates playing the champion will have access.

2. Save your ultimate for a hopeless situation

The Duchess’s ultimate art makes her and nearby teammates invisible for about 20 seconds, break all enemy aggro, and give them a window to reset the battle to neutral. The best time to use it is when one or both teammates have fallen. You’ll only have time to acquire one of them before the effect ends, but that could be all that separates the run from a fast defeat.

Be careful not to hit any hidden enemies while the Duchess Ultimate is active. However, if you’re only just a few seconds left at the end, as the Duchess, you can pull the aggro away from your teammates if you need time to attack your target and heal or apply new buffs.

3. Grab the magic staff for long range attacks

The Duchess is far from dedicated spellcasters like the Recluse and the Revenant, but she still boasts a respectable reputation for intelligence. That means her magical damage scaling is competitive and adding staff to her arsenal is a great way to do supplemental damage in scope.

The easiest way to get the Duchess’ excellent staff is to open one of the Wizard Towers on the map. Look around the geometry of the leaves and other levels, and it looks not in place, smacks it with weapons and sprints. Doing so reveals the crest you can destroy. Opens the path to the room at the top of the tower, where a reward totem awaits.

4. Use relics that enhance vitality and dexterity

The Duchess is a fast and squishy character, so anything that enhances her vitality and thus increases her health value is welcome. Your vitality relics are the most impactful in the early parts of the match, where the difference between a two-shot kill or a four-shot kill from the first trash can you encounter.

Having a good grasp of the flow of the match and adding a flat bonus to your Dexterity score is a good way to boost your power early in the match. Your ultimate goal is to combine the effect of the artifact with the weaknesses of the Night Road you are fighting for. The relics with the Buff that locked the Duchess is especially superior.

5. Dual gaze with similar weapons whenever possible.

This tip is a more general strategy than the Duchess alone, but having access to two weapons of the same type with both hands is invaluable. Dual Daggers or Katanus turns the Duchess into a close-range damage machine. You may want to have weapons in both hands, especially if you need an active weapon in your off-hand to get the benefits of buffing. However, in most cases, it is difficult to beat the speed and DPS of the dual dagger.

There’s a lot going on when playing the Duchess in Elden Ring: Nightreign, but using the above tips as a starting point to build your own playstyle. She can do almost anything in the game with at least useful efficiency, and prioritizing her best synergy will be a sight to see her.
