When is the spine released? If you’re a fan of the John Woo movie mixing kung fu with the Pistols, your spine could be on your wish list. On cyberpunk’s dystopian streets, Tensor AI takes over the city, behind the authorities’ power via drones to curb the rebellion. The Spine places us in the role of the Red Line. The Red Line has revenge against the AI and its ruling elites and stops nothing to make them pay.
Gunfu fans will have to wait a long time to play the spine. This is a shame as it has an attractive cyberpunk game aesthetic. This story-based action-adventure game promises a tense “movie-like experience” that utilizes choreography and camera techniques. With that in mind, there’s everything you know about the spine release date window, trailer and more.
Spine Release Date Window
Spine will be released in late 2025 and Nekki will be confirmed in a press release accompanying the Future Games Show 2024 gameplay trailer. Spine will be released on PC via Steam, Xbox Series X | S, and PlayStation 5.
The trailer for the official 2021 movie said that the game versions have also come to iOS and Android mobile devices, but have since been quietly dropped. Check out the latest news on whether your spine is on your game pass.
For fans who want to see more spine soon, another major obstacle is thanks to other known projects from the developer. Nekki also has a Web3 NFT browser game, which continues to support other mobile games, such as Shadow Fight Arena and the rest of the Shadow Fight series. Naturally, these projects take time. This is probably why they are taking part in the release in late 2025, a few years after the first teaser.

Spine trailer
The first full-fledged spine trailer of 2021 follows a woman whose identity is unknown at this point. We see her crossing the futuristic town’s skyscrapers while drones and riot police are trying to track her down. Cornered onto the roof, we see the soldier through her digital vision.
As the soldiers fired, the running woman was an illusion all this time, revealing that her true form was hidden by the roof above. In the final seconds, we see a woman fighting two enemies using several spinning attacks.

The official release of Spine finally came on in November 2023, officially introducing the protagonist Redline and her AI companion (Fans of Cyberpunk Edgerunners would like to thank Sandevestian Styling). We are dealing with a lot of gun goodness, smooth camera work, and even peer into the combat environment.

In 2024, we double-dropped us on the trailer front, with bosses and parkours arriving in August, and spray paint and camerawork trailers appearing in December.
The former begins with Redline offering several expositions, chanting the beat of the main story that drives the spine story. As it happened, Tensor yonks her brother and makes it a family matter. Once again, the hero can see her magic casting her spell. It also makes a quick look at the parkour system where you can see the redline covered in dynamic camera angles.

Speaking of camerawork, spine spray paint and camerawork trailers showcase traditional side crawls, dynamics and even top-down angle blends (John Wick fans and the Hong Kong Massacres loved this everywhere.). Spray Paint Mechanics, on the other hand, target blinds, giving Redline a great advantage.

Most recently, FreeFlow Combat Design Trailer does what he writes on the can and goes through some fluid combat sequences. You won’t learn anything new here, but the game is incredibly refined as it rushes towards launch.
Spine Gameplay
Spine’s Gameplay mixes gunfire and martial arts. This is a colloquially known combination with “Gun Fu.” Redline hastily weaves the pistol on a rapid physical strike, creating an incredible flow of body and bullets.
From the various trailers we’ve had so far, we can see that Redline can run its targets in a variety of ways, including environmental finishers such as throwing people from the side of the bridge. Redline has access to a variety of guns, including pistols and shotguns, but the full Arsenal has not yet been confirmed.
The spine incorporates a spray paint mechanic that allows you to blind your visual target with a can of good redlines. This can also be applied to mech enemies. The Red Line can be seen colored with visors on several trailer mechas.
The spine does not stick to a single perspective. You can experience side crawling and top-down sections along with standard follow cameras. The dynamic, central camera continues on to Redline as it traverses the building for even better cinema.
In addition to what you see from the trailer, the spine steam page refers to the cybernetic enhancement thanks to the glowing spinal cord attached to the redline’s back. It’s still a bit early to determine whether this is part of the UI or indicates a perk selection.
Spine News
According to Nekki’s Facebook page, the only thing we know about the spine is that it was first announced as a team-based multiplayer action game. However, it has since moved to single player only. The Steam page in Spine enhances this new orientation and ensures that the game is being created using Unreal Engine 5.
