There are so many games created with direct influences from FromSoftware’s action RPGs, and new genres have been created from projects similar to Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Sekiro, Demon’s Souls and Bloodborne. But the most valuable of these Soul-like games is not the ability to replicate the relentless battle designs of From catalogues, but the approach to creating an absorbing, often foreseeable setting. It is this kind of world design that excels in the 2020s human shells. Now we saw the first glimpse of that sequel, Fatal Shell 2The creator’s cold symmetry appears to provide an increasingly detailed nightmare world to explore continuing this effort.
Mortal Shell 2 is built on its hellish environment as well as the first Souls-like game. Following the steam page, the sequel includes more complex weapons and combat designs, with players upgrading their movement and abilities roster by finding and owning the “shell” of the exoskeleton of a dead warrior.
It also appears to lead Bloodborne’s fast-paced battle. Mortal Shell 2 does not include a stamina system to promote frenzied combat. In addition to its serious level of appearance and independently grotesque enemy appearance, this decision seems to be able to create something like a soul that sets it apart from other genres.
Mortal Shell 2 is set to be released in 2026, with beta sign-up coming soon. Sign up for a beta registration here, find more information, or make your game a wishlist on Steam here.
