Cities Skylines has a stylish cousin, as 96%-rated road builder plans big update

Offices, industries, parks, landfills – in cities there are none of these issues unless there are good roads. It is increasingly uncertain that a massive order will reinvent and change the sequel of that movement, but in all its struggles, Cities Skylines 2 has excellent road construction tools, especially roundabouts and instant grids. Transport Fever 3 also looks quite detailed, but of course, Saber’s Roadcraft is about logistics at the ground level. Basically, if you have a preference for transit and tarmac, there are plenty to choose from now on. But don’t forget Mini Expressway. For four years since its first release, minimalist car strategy games still have almost no-foules player reviews, and soon you’ll get a transformative update from the biggest fan dreams.

Mini Expressways are the purest and simplest road construction. Playing from a top-down perspective will give you a map of a city filled with skyscrapers and houses of different colours. The cars are also color coded. The challenge is to connect the red house to the red building, blue to blue to yellow to yellow, etc., and detour the shady vehicle in the corresponding direction. The longer it takes to establish a flowing road network, the closer the timer will be to zero. It’s also a city building game and a strategy game. Despite the minimalist aesthetic, your plans and your “tactics” must be razor-sharp.

Of the over 20,000 player reviews posted on Mini Expressways in their lifetime, 96% are positive. The game’s 2025 roadmap already includes two new locations, but now developer Dinosaur Polo Club has confirmed that fans’ most wanted features are finally ongoing.

Future Mini Expressway updates will eventually introduce Creative Mode, allowing players to rebuild city maps. You can pivot and reposition buildings, exchange colours, remove sections, and change terrain. If you want to create a cold city that is easy, refreshing and free to flow, you can. On the contrary, you may need to design a map that will test your management skills and stress levels on the brink.

As confirmed at Summer Game Fest, the Mini Expressway Creative Mode Update will be released on Tuesday, August 26th. In the meantime, if you haven’t tried it yet, you can get the game here.
