Constance is a beautiful, hand-drawn metroidvania that actually has a release date

Now I’m not name it here, but at this point there’s a certain hand-drawn Metroidvania where everyone is waiting a bit and can really do the release date. Ok, yes, it’s the Hollow Knight: Silksong, and if those recent Steam backend updates make any sense, I think it will get some kind of update someday in the next few days. In the meantime, this is Constance, a hand-drawn metropolitan area with a release date.

At Constance, you play as a purple hair painter “striving to escape the colorful but corrupt inner world created by her diminished mental health.” The mental health theme is nothing new in the indie gaming world, but it’s not something that really sells me at Constance. It will be a tight-looking platform and a crisp, paintbrush-oriented battle.

You literally fight and fly around with a huge paintbrush using it to do almost everything from tattering the sides of the wall to doing quick brush strokes you can dodge. Sometimes you even need to do some real drawings if you can believe it! Things look great too. I’m a hand-drawn game sucker. Because they always feel like a labor of love. Aesthetically, it certainly seems to be true here, so I hope the full release will live up to its appearance. There are also demos available so you and I could always give it a try!

Ah, yes, release date! It’s still a few months away on November 24th, but I’m sure you can wait. Like I said, you wouldn’t be surprised if Silkson dated this weekend, but you should definitely consider keeping Constance on your radar. Here you can use the WishList Constance on Steam.
