One of Quest’s Most Popular Single-player Games Gets Multiplayer Mode as Social Sandboxes Take Over

Sandbox Adventure I’m a cat (2024) It’s about stretching out your chubby little legs, exploring the neighborhood, and playing with dynamite. Cat’s stuff. The hit single-player game has received a new update that brings multiplayer lobby to the mix, following the rise in trends that social VR games take over.

The developer’s new folder game has just released a new sea playground, and you and up to 19 other cat friends have set sail together for a more patently, eccentric adventure.

Now available for free, the update also includes many new cosmetics, including skins, hats and glasses. For now, the update will only feature public lobbies, but the studio says it is currently working on a private lobby.

The new folder may want to take advantage of the growth trends of social VR games that regularly take the top spots of the best-earned games for quests. Animal Company, Gorilla Tag, Yeeps: Hide and Seek, and vrchat.

And the stakes are pretty high. Another axiom Gorilla Tag Ostensibly leads the pack as the studio announced it had surpassed its $100 million total revenue last summer. This was driven almost entirely by in-app purchases.

In particular, Meta praises the recent success of social VR for the release of the Quest 3S headset ($300). That said, there aren’t many paid single-player apps that make multiplayer jumps. I’m a cat The base game is still $20.

for I’m a cat However, the $20 cost does not seem to be a major barrier to entry. The title has not only been one of the top games of quests for several months in a row, but it has also been one of the top prey since it launched in early access in May 2024.

Also, with the launch of multiplayer, the studio ostensibly wants to kick paid DLCs into high gear. The game’s first multiplayer cosmetic pack features six paid character models: zombies, robots, aliens, detectives, wolves and superhero cosmetics, priced at $20.

At the moment, multiplayer updates are only available in the quest version of the game, but the new folder game also appears in the China-only PICO version. At the time of writing, there is no word on whether the update will also arrive in the Steam version.

In the meantime, you can find I’m a cat Single-player versions on Steam for Quest 2 or higher Horizon Store, and PC VR headsets. You can see that you bookmark the game’s PlayStation Store page, but there’s nothing about when the game will come to PSVR 2.
