Diablo 4 Masterworking is now less expensive, but only when it comes to materials

Diablo 4 received a new update overnight that brings small but effective changes to the cost of the game’s masterpiece. More specifically, masterpiece items ranked 1-4 are inexpensive.

This change does not affect the cost of money and obesity, but it only reduces the number of basic ingredients needed for each operation.

The new patch, version 2.2.2, was deployed on all platforms on Tuesday. The changes were made as Blizzard explained that players didn’t want to avoid being involved in the masterpiece as a result of their material costs.

The cost of Obducite and Gold is not usually an issue with these early ranks, but if you try resetting some masterworks, the material will quickly run out of money, despite having enough Obducite and Gold to provide a roll.

This patch has disabled DirectStorage on your PC. This is a feature that allows faster load times when games are installed on supported NVME drives. DirectStorage can be responsible for some performance issues, so Blizzard is disabled during investigation. You can still enable it. If necessary, you should add “-enableds” as a launch command to Diablo 4 via battlenet.

Elsewhere in the patch there are many bug fixes that affect different parts of the game. In particular, it addresses many issues with screen readers. Since the launch of Season 8, we have stopped reading certain areas of the UI.

You can read the set of changes in the Blizzard blog, which also covers patch 2.2.2 UI, gameplay and season 8-specific fixes.

Separately, Tuesday also marked the start of Season 9 PTR. This introduces new endgame activities, among other things, and makes some changes to the dungeons and more. PTR will end on June 3rd.
