Supergiant Games has released the latest big patches for Hades 2, an invisible update, and has made many changes so big that we can’t describe them here, but we’ll pick some good ones. First of all, and perhaps most importantly, Narcissus finally has character art. I’m not going to embed a picture of him here in case you want to witness him in the game for yourself, but here’s a bit of tweet for those who can’t wait. There are so many “why does he have to be obsessed with himself and be so attractive that it can be understood?” vibes.
Anyway, you can put the spray bottle down. Let’s talk about adding gameplay. All of the nocturnal arms of Roguelike have their own hidden side to unlock, but you’ll have to find them yourself. “Hot new singles from a particular band…” also adds some new music, such as Zero Prize, which speculates that this is likely Scylla and The Sirens.

As you approach many of the characters in the game, there are some new events with options, and even new artwork for specific characters in the salt bass (and some “visual prosperity” has been added to the artwork in general). Each Guardian (i.e. boss) “makes more challenging in a unique way. The first rank affects the first Guardians on both the underworld and surface routes. You win both to reveal the next rank.”
There is also an incredibly long list of Boon, Daedalus Hammer upgrades, hexagons, enemies and more additions and tweaks.
In their blog posts on their website, Supergiant Games also provided some development progress. There were no release dates to share, but after some follow-up patches to resolve invisible update kinks, a big next step is added to the game’s expected true ending. There are plans for achievements and other finishing finishes, but the big thing here is that we are preparing for at least a 1.0 release. For now, um, drool narciss or something.
