For obvious reasons, this is one of the mods that I personally had to do double take when I met Naiadgirl’s “Martin Septim and the Terminator Gambit” on Oblivion Remastered’s Nexus Mods Page earlier this week. It’s a mod that sees you and Sean Bean pursued wherever you go with Killer Level 70 Terminator. From the moment you leave the sewer, there is a murder machine that you can defeat after completing the Tae main quest.
I was curious how much work I had to do to pull off such a cool concept with this relatively early oblivion. We’re working with Terminator and finding that she’s been modifying the remaster when she made this mod, making the game’s iconic Oblivion Gate Battles and Goblin Wars more dynamic. Here’s my conversation with her:
VG247: What modified the oblivion? Have you ever had any previous experience of classic oblivion or modifying other games?
Niadgiliin: I’ve been a fan of oblivion since I was a little girl, and the same can be said for my wife. At first I was skeptical about the remaster, but I couldn’t help but be fascinated immediately. I’ve casually modified Bethesda Games for over a decade, but recently I’ve decided to make my own mods.
My only previous modification experience was Deeprock Galactic, another unrealistic game. Meanwhile, my wife has been making mods for years! We both love oblivion, so we decided to create a remastered mod.
VG247: So far, how have you found that you’ve modified the remaster so far and knowing tools like UE4SS and TessyncMapInjector?
Niadgiliin: Modifying the remaster was a roller coaster of emotions at high and low prices. Older tools still work more or less, but they have limitations. There are still many features that you can’t work with because this new version of Oblivion doesn’t have a proper mod toolkit.
ue4ss, obse64, tessyncmapinjector; I can continue with the amazing tools people in the community have created. They are all insanely impressive and allow them to do things that wouldn’t have been without them. I wish some of them had more detailed documentation, but what can you do? Modifications are always a challenge, and part of the fun is hunting answers to problems.

VG247: What influenced the premise of the Martin Septim Terminator Mod was what the process of putting it together? Did the elements of that prove to be difficult to pull apart, or was there anything you had to cut?
Niadgiliin: My inspiration for my Martin Terminator Mod comes from a game series that I’m close to my heart: Resident Evil. Originally, it became merely a pursuer, but its name is “An enemy.” I love the idea of something big chasing after you while you’re already crushed under the pressure of saving the world. In the end, I switched gears and got a mod with Martin.
What is better than hunting something scary? You and your friend are hunted by something scary. The Terminator is a rock (at least two are), so I came up with the idea that Mehrunes Dagon was back in time to save his ass at the end of the game. To sum it up, (OG Oblivion) asked me to look at the code of the magician chasing you at the start of the Spell Tomes DLC. After creating a new NPC with the help of UE4SS and TessyncMapInjector, I put together an AI package and two quest scripts to monitor everything.
Modifications are constant learning experiences and it’s a lot of fun to come across walls from time to time. Frustration quickly turns into new inspiration. In the end I didn’t need to cut anything! It’s a simple mod at the end of the day, but it was a lot of fun to put together.
VG247: Aside from the cheese and running away, is there any other advice for players trying to win the Septim Terminator Challenge, even if it’s just to invest in spare pants?

Niadgiliin: I’ve been messing around with Terminator in my latest playthrough. It’s difficult, but it’s not impossible to lose (at least after MQ is over!). You will always need to stay one step ahead of this machine, until you defeat Dagon. It finds you so you don’t care where you are.
I was doing a mythical dawn shrine quest, and by the time I walked through dungeons, freed the prisoners, and slept for an hour and leveled up, it was there. The Argonian, who I worked so hard to protect, was dead from his cold feet. I had no choice but to run with my losses reduced. Plan your journey, bash the store as much as you can and keep moving. If it finds you, it will indiscriminately kill you!
Once you’ve completed the main quest, you’ll have several options, such as dungeon traps, boss NPCs, crowds, or death duels. You need to be on a fairly high level to beat it! If you’re planning your build properly, I think there’s a real possibility to take it on around level 25. Terminators relieve health, so keep your damage constantly!
You need powerful equipment and lots of advantageous benefits. I think I’ll kill the dragon at Cloud Ruler Temple. Blade and I will create a final position against forgetting! I wish only good luck to be a challenger. I love hearing about this blowjob.
VG247: From your perspective up until now, it was like a community. Have you ever interacted with other modders? Have you ever got useful support/feedback about mods or learned something you might not have otherwise?
naiadgl: The modification scene is full of incredibly talented people. In my experience, many people are willing to offer helping hand (of course, of course!). I’ve always been very grateful to get feedback about my MODS and seeing the kindness people have said makes my day brighter.
As I touched on, Modding is a constant learning experience and you are always finding new things you didn’t know well yet. My wife, Margaret, has quite a bit of experience in Bethesda modifications. Modifications are beautiful and delicate dances, not people in a hurry. Take your time, do your research and create something amazing in the community at your side!

VG247: What are your personal and general wishes for a remastered modification of Oblivion in the future? Is there any complicated mod ideas you want to try, or the tools you want pop up to make certain things easier/enable?
Niadgiliin: I have great hopes for future modification scenes. Bethesda may be saying that Mods is not officially supported, but I still embrace the hope that one day I will get the right creation set of Remastered. They haven’t dropped the ball yet. And with one of their greatest works of all time, I hope they are not now. I really believe sooner or later a new kit is approaching.
If you get the official tool, Modding really pops out. You see what we have now and it’s only bigger and more accessible to the public. Access to official tools creates a world of difference and changes things for the better. If the official tool gives way, I want to expand the remastered script extender of Forget (OBSE64). But that doesn’t stop me from trying to make something crazy.
My next mod focuses on the outbreak of a pandemic. I’m extremely excited to continue working and share it with the world. I’m even more excited to see what the rest of the community can make. The community is extremely resourceful and we will work together to create something beautiful, whether it is an official tool or not. Don’t stop making what you like.
