Marvel Games and ARC System Works are creating new original fighting games Marveltocon: Fighting the soul, 4v4 tag fighter. ARC showed off the new game during Sony’s play event on Wednesday, with the hype teaser trailer showing off the gorgeous game.
Animated interpretations of characters such as Iron Man, Captain America, Master Marvel, Storm, Starlord, Ghost Rider, Spider-Man, and Doctor Doom are seen in clip battles with the Over-the-top attack and finisher. Marvel Tokon: Battle with the Soul It will be released in 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Windows PCs.
2.5D Fighter is a new direction in the Marvel Fighting game, as Marvel heroes and villains have historically been associated with Capcom.
Capcom and Marvel first collaborated in 1993, with the release of the Beat-‘-Up game Punisher. The success of the game has led to fruitful relationships between the two companies throughout the 90s, with iconic titles. Marvel Superheroes (1995), X-Men vs Street Fighter (1996), and Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter (1997). The game kicks for this series launched the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise, which produced four titles. The final game was the 2017 commercial failure Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite – A game that does not contain the X-Men or other characters that were owned by 20th Century Fox at the time.
Capcom and Marvel recently collaborated in 2024 Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classic. The move will make fans believe a potential fourth MVC game is ongoing, and while it still may happen, it appears that Marvel has other plans for a fighting game effort.
