Mind Eye, a match to build Rocket Boy from former rockstar president Leslie Benzies Helmedo Studios, has arrived. Its launch is a bit glitchy and is currently landing the game at mixed receptions on Steam. That said, the studio has at least seen an update designed to ensure Mindseye’s performance is ongoing.
If the loop is off, the path to the release of the GTA-ish/Cyberpunk-ish game was very strange before breaking the cover. Rocket Boy co-CEO Build A Mark Gerhard appears to believe people are being paid to say negative things about Mindseye on the game’s Discord Server.
It has now debuted in mixed steam reviews and plenty of clips on socials from players who come across glitches and cite issues. What caught my eye in particular was the multiple people who failed the mission as they tweaked an NPC named SEB on their ATV, who responded by exploding into spaghettoized mess of slender limbs.
To be fair, hitting a speedy vehicle is known to be distorted by a painful look that is generally unpredictable, but a real car accident has yet to see someone’s neck, arms and legs grow instantly beyond the ground.
Some Steam reviews cite stud sounds, FPS drops, texture flickering, enemy corpses that “twitch like Ragdoll Puppets,” and even mention the issue of running the game with decent clips.
Depending on the performance issues on the first day, Build Rocket Boy said that he has a third patch in his work, writing the community manager writing the following in the game’s Subreddit post.
We understand that the current minimum spec requirements are extremely high, but our engineering team works round the clock to improve mainstream hardware and console performance by integrating performance improvements for Unreal Engine V5.6. We will provide update timing for patch 3 including these improvements within the next 24 hours.
They also asked for feedback on the game’s main campaign and its map editing “build.mindseye” mode. Only the NPC Spaghet Division will give you 10/10.
