Minecraft Chase the Skies is the second game drop of 2025, and it's massive

Mojang revealed the name of the next game drop. Minecraft Chase the Skies is set to focus on lifting you up and taking you away. This drop, revealed during the Twitchrivals stream of the MC Championship, is everything about Skyward Exploration, with additional features thrown in, further enhancing your time in the sandbox game.

The title feature for Minecraft’s Chase the Skies Game Drop is the new Happy Ghast Flying Mount. To unlock a creature, you must first head towards the Nether and find a dry gust block. These dehydrated blocks are usually seen close to fossil structures, but you can also get them by swapping for piglins in survival games. Alternatively, you can collect tears and soul sand to create your own.

Once it’s out of the nether, you’ll need to put the dried gust in the water and wait for it to become a gurstring. Sorry, I know you thought you had a happy Gusto soon, but there’s a bit more to do. From here, you need to eat your gurstring snowman before you completely transform into the airy mountains of your dreams.

Next is the Player Locator Bar, one of Minecraft’s biggest quality of life improvements. This will appear in the same place as the XP bar on the screen and mark all your friends around the world with colored dots. If your companion gets lost on a cliff or deep inside a cave, you have an arrow that helps you point up and down.

Chase the Skies also has a new music disc that you can plunder from Ghasts. In addition to this, there are five new ambient tracks in various Overworld biomes written by Amos Roddy.

However, Mojang also introduces Minecraft’s biggest official visual refresh, called Vibrant Visuals, so that’s not all. This update greatly improves Minecraft’s overall lighting, shadows, and immersive details, turning it into a whole new experience. However, if you rather want to leave it as is, it’s nice to know that you can play in the realm with your friends, whether they have or not. You should also know that it is only available with compatible Minecraft: Bedrock Edition Devices, but at some point in the future Java will occur.

Mojang also wants to bring in some crafts and leads that have been overhauled in the game’s snapshots recently. However, there is no release date for Chase The Skies yet.
