The new Linux driver update messed around with two previously unknown device IDs with Intel BattleMage codenames. Meanwhile, new rumours suggest that the company is working on a new GPU, but is not ready to launch until the end of the year.
Intel has sparked a lot of speculation that a new Intel Arc Battlemage GPU was ongoing before Computex, but only the Intel Arc Pro Workstation Card was finally announced. These may be high quality products, but they are not the best graphics card options for gamers. Instead, what you need is a new Intel Gaming GPU, and these latest leaks may probably suggest such a arrival.

First discovered by developer Lasse Kärkkäinen in a post on X (formerly Twitter) and four new hardware IDs have been added to the recent Linux Mesa graphics driver update.
Unlike other Intel device IDs, Chipmaker does not use GPU Die Codename. For example, the BMG-G21 on a GPU, such as the Intel Arc B580. Instead, the device is tagged with the more common BMG (for battlemages). Two of these IDs may be related to the two recently announced Intel Arc workstation GPUs, while the other two have not been explained so far.
Thankfully, further rumors about the brand new Intel Arc B770 could be a sign that at least one of these IDs is related to that unannounced card. According to Dutch website Tweakers, Intel teeth “Multiple Sources” are working on “multiple Sources” that confirm their existence on the Computex 2025 trade show, but it also suggests that it is “scheduled to appear in the fourth quarter” of 2025.
