In the 90s, Electronic Arts released the Strike series games. From desert strikes to nuclear strikes, players were given control over various helicopters, completed various missions and piloted from a top-down perspective as they tried to survive against enemy forces. The Strike series has been dormant since 1997, Cleared hotthe new game published by Microprose has plummeted to revive its spirit. And you can try it yourself now as part of the ongoing Steam Next Fest.
Cleared Hot starts from the detailed vehicle replica featured in the simulation game, offering a more complex, more action-rich take rather than a helicopter pilot. Despite the fact that the firepower of the player’s helicopters makes it as powerful on the battlefield as Doom Slayer in the Dark Ages, it is characterized by combat that emphasizes the trapping and evacuation of circles from enemy projectiles.
The helicopter is equipped with magnetic ropes that not only use ammunition and health, but also use a huge variety of in-game objects, such as vehicles, fuel tanks, and the remains of enemy soldiers. These systems are associated with the ability to move friendly forces around the battlefield, leaving them with the defense or attack area of the map. Tactical considerations, coupled with the playful disorder of picking up and whipping objects while blowing missiles and bullets, make it clear that hot things are worth attracting attention.
Cleared Hot is scheduled to be released in 2025, but the demo will be available on Steam until Monday, June 16th. Download it from here.
