The sci-fi action game Pragmata will be coming out in 2026, says developer Capcom on tonight’s PlayStation Showcase. The trailer appears to contain harsh warnings for those using generative AI. Please do so. Ultimately, you need to be friends with a creepy cyborg girl to fight a horde of future bots who want to kill you for some reason. Think about it the next time you’re using ChatGpt to do your homework.
There is a new trailer below.
It appears that Pragmata contains some recent science horror cliches — or at least that’s how it feels, given the girl Sidekick Diana is so inspiring M3GAN. Luckily it’s paired with some video game Cliches showing that the trailer avoids attacking robots, electrocuting them and freezing them into place, and shooting them with the head to obtain extra damage.
To be fair, Pragmata was announced in 2020 long before M3GAN via a trailer that never explains what the game really is. Since then, I’ve been late twice. The developers first set up a 2023 release, then completely wiped out the exact dates of the release. It’s been a long time since I heard anything about it, so some people have begun to speculate that it has been cancelled. When the 2026 release window is paired with a memo that simply says “it’s real,” the trailer probably has a reference to that horror.
Capcom has had a big hit rate in recent years, so I’m happy to give them the bounty of doubt and put my Cyncism aside for now. I’m also happy to be able to come to PC on Steam at the same time that the console is released.
