Report: Samsung’s Project Moohan XR Headset May Get a Launch Date at Unpacked Next Month

Samsung’s release is expected to kick off with the usual hardware announcement slate next month. This year, it can include the company’s latest folding smartphones, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7, and the Galaxy Watch 8.

Project Moohan was announced in December 2024 along with Android XR. This will be the first device to run Google’s upcoming XR operating system. Samsung has said in the past that consumers should expect the launch of Project Moohan within this year, but there is no scheme for a specific date or official name yet.

Currently, Samsung Serial Leaker “Panda Flash” reports that the company’s upcoming Mixed Reality headset will eventually get a release date there.

At first I was hoping to hear it something Regarding Google I/O’s Project Moohan last month (we didn’t), Samsung may be bringing the device a little closer to home than we originally thought.

Following the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and folding seven leaks and supply chain rumors, Panda Flash further reports that the headset will be first released in Korea, and will gradually be released globally.

Samsung shows that it expects Vision Pro competitors at many events over the past year. This includes the opportunity to practice Project Moohan in December, but the company will rely on revealing the full spec sheets for its XR headset.

So far, we have found that the Android XR headset is packed into an external battery pack with Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 + Gen 2, Sony Soursed Micro-Oled panel (still TBA resolution), pancake lenses, automatic interpulmonary distance (IPD) adjustment, eye and hand-held support, optional magnetic light shielding, and optional attachments. It also supports VR motion controllers A certain kind, I haven’t seen them either though.

We also want to learn more about the company’s smart glasses efforts. Samsung is reportedly working on a pair of smart glasses that can be released later this year. This is trying to offer competition with Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses.

Either way, we are looking for the official Samsung dates where Samsung is unpacked. This is scheduled to take place in New York City early next month.
