Pompeii: Legacy It’s one of my most anticipated games of 2025. It combines my love for ancient history and urban builders with something new. It once controlled Pompeii, a Roman town, and breathes a whole new life. While Cities Skylines 2 and Civilization 7 continue to improve, Pompeii: Legacy is formed to be a true competitor of the Strategic Throne. Using a temporary playtest earlier this year will ultimately allow you to jump into a whole new demo in Pompeii. Developer Siscia Games has plans to continue improving.
Twenty years after Pompeii was destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, you are tasked with rebuilding the iconic town. As head of the Roman family, you need to oversee the construction of an entire generation. This means building structures, managing roads, having clean water and responding to people’s lives. If you’re a fan of city builders, Pompeii: Legacy has what you need.
With over 200 years of history at your fingertips, you need to work with the emperor, curry favors and get rewards. Although trade routes can also be utilized for commodities and wealth from the entire empire, fierce competition means that markets can often become unstable. However, because this is the height of Rome, there are also areas of research into advanced technology and philosophy. These will help you unlock new buildings, unlock transport bonuses and improve overall governance.
But it is not all peace and prosperity. Regular catastrophic events such as volcanic eruptions, fires, locust swarms, earthquakes and other things need to hold your city in control of quick thinking and quick leadership. Pompeii: Legacy asks a lot of you, but it will be one of the most promising city builders I have ever seen.
If you can’t wait for the release, a new demo is finally here. It comes with over 2 hours of gameplay, and after the final playtest, the map visuals, updated UI and general polish have been improved.
That’s not all because Siscia Games also plans to improve the demo. On Friday, June 6th, there will be more quests in the early games, with unlockable sandbox mode, the Mediterranean trade system, in-game hazards, wine and olive oil production chains, and new decoration options. Then comes another update on Monday, June 9th, adding performance optimizations, a new civic health system, and improved tutorials.
Siscia Games released Pompeii: The Legacy in 2025, and you can try out new demos on Steam now. Head towards here.
