Behind the success of the Silent Hill 2 remake – a remake that completely blows my first low expectations out of the water – Konami has announced that he has been working with the Bloober team again since 1999 to remake the original Silent Hill.

This is not at all surprising given that the Bloober Team announced they would be working with publishers again soon after the release of Silent Hill 2 Remake. This has led many people, including myself, to believe that Silent Hill and Silent Hill 3 remakes will be on the cards. After all, Bloober Team did such a good job of faithfully remake Silent Hill 2, so it would be an embarrassing shame not to give the studio another shot of remake more cult classic entries in the series.
Luckily, it’s clear that Konami is thinking the same thing, and Silent Hill fans are now looking forward to returning to Silent Hill, a foggy, disturbing town. Rather than being introduced to his unpleasant trauma surrounding James Sunderland and his late wife, Silent Hill puts the player in the shoes of single Harry Mason when he and his adopted children leave for a holiday to town and take their time to town after they pass Harry’s wife. Ok, that might look a bit like Silent Hill 2, but listen.
On the way to Silent Hill, Harry and Cheryl end in a car accident, and when Harry wakes up, his daughter is nowhere to be found. The story then follows Harry desperately trying to find his daughter, trying to meet all sorts of scary creatures and strange characters. This is still similar to Silent Hill 2, but trust me, here there is more to it than anything like Harry Mason’s spirit.
The Bloober Team is cutting out the work to remake yet another silent hill game. Putting it on the shoulders of developers is a huge pressure. That being said, after winning how well Silent Hill 2 ran and how well it was praised, I personally have a pretty high hopes for Silent Hill, which has the accompanying Bloober name. What do you think?
