Starlight Re:Volver is an upcoming anime as hell Hades-esque, MMO inspired roguelite that already has the vibe

I’m not an MMO person. I’ve dabbled like a young man Runescape for many years. And then the final fantasy 14. Luckily, I think there is a lower key way to get this kind of feeling in the upcoming action Roguelite Starlight Re: Volver.

From the first seconds of Starlight Re: Volver, you’re definitely thinking to yourself, “Oh, this is a hellish anime.” It would probably go off to some, but it does with such a ridiculous degree of finesse and style, I won just outside the gate. The core gameplay loop will run with up to three friends, passing through various rooms with waves of enemy, picking up abilities and buffs along the way.

The game appears to have a Hades-like approach, but the demos currently available on Steam Next Fest seem to be more of an online playtest than anything else. For now, the game isn’t very useful to talk about a lot about anything, so I think there’s a bit of onboarding issue, but using multiple characters to choose from all with a unique playstyle, I spent plenty of time on the few runs I’ve experienced.

Of course, it could all be smooth, but I’m not too worried about it, so the real thing that’s been drawing me in so far is the atmosphere. The game’s Steam page calls itself the “anime-inspired MMO universe”, and the game’s hub area certainly offers a slice of such a pie.

Just rip the world watermelon game to play, fishing mini-games, clothes to unlock, hang out in different areas. You can see a variety of players running around.

Whenever the game comes out, I can’t tell you how it progresses, that’s certainly something I want to expand. In the meantime, you can add the game to your wishlist on Steam here and have to try the demo yourself until June 16th.
