What is the best space game on your PC in 2025? Featuring the biggest Steam games like the Kerbal Space Program and the best free games like Eve Online, these are the most sensational space epics. There are so many options, and when you choose the best intergalaxy adventures, it’s a galaxy size question.
The developers have been kicking out space adventures since the ’70s, and everyone is excited about Jupiter, and kickstarters and crowdfunding allow the studio to strike on their own. Kill time by playing some amazing space games with the best games on your PC while you wait for ET to return a large number of missed calls.
The best space games are:
Star Trek Fleet Command
Whether you’re clinging to Prime Directives or want to wreak havoc on your enemies, Star Trek Fleet Command lets you realize your space furling dreams with a unique blend of base building and tactical combat. They build fleets of ships from many Star Trek hosts, bring the legends of the series into staff, and take over the galaxy.

Star Trek Online
Another Star Trek game! In movies and online, Star Trek has come a long way in a relatively short time, but undoubtedly, the first one that traveled the longest is the initially problematic MMO. A little destroyed when released to be an effective bad fit, Star Trek Online has now filled its replica uniforms pretty well and is now considered one of the best MMORPGs.
Considering Star Trek online, as a game where Roddenberry was able to capture the strengthened spirit of the universe, as part of an online fan convention, considering its pioneering foray into unknown tactical one-on-one battles and its encounter with curious aliens with enduring love for human history. Players will display their affiliation to TOS, TNG, or DS9, indulge in series knowledge, i.e. participate in various games on the side, via structured away team missions and battles in space. As a game funded by microtransactions, you can buy a lot of cosmetics, but Star Trek Online is not that Sim for Star Trek lovers, but it means it’s a hangout for Star Trek fans who love games.
And there are lots of games I likefrom how to develop characters and bridge officers to playing through regular episode missions. It’s similar to riding an open-top shuttle around every corner of trekking lore and history. However, what makes the game great is during open team space battles, where a small group of player ships combine to defeat an indomitable NPC ship. Veteran fans of Starfleet Command Games will find a lot of involvement, especially when they’re part of a well-drawn team on the frontlines tearing apart and part of a support ship, as they need to manage shielding and power levels and consider speed and positioning.
Star Trek Online came out years ago, but still gets regular content updates and even expands. The latest rise of discoveries tells the story of pivotal moments in the lives of both Gabriel Lorca and Ellen Landry. Experience the events that lead to the first episode of Star Trek: Discovery. Plus, there’s an overhaul on how to unlock the best ships in the game, making this a much more kind update for new players.

Star competition
Star Competition is a free MMO where pilots watch them collide within the asteroid belt and hit the planet with fast-paced scraps. It is primarily related to PVP battles, but you can grab some quests, explore ruins, and hold hands at craft locations.
Of course, it’s the ship that makes the game. From agile fighters to intense frigates and bulky destroyers, there are plenty of ships to unlock and upgrade, deciding your role in any conflict you think is taking it.
There is also a metagame. Fight for your chosen faction, hunt enemies, spread the influence of the group, and take part in pitched battles to incorporate some lovely rewards into yourself.

Mecha
Mech Arena is by no means a conceptual game, but it’s definitely a fun game. This is a game where you watch you fight in a mecha suit, as you might be able to guess from the title. There are many different mechas to choose from, but they all play differently, and each has plenty of customization options.
“Mecha suits are cool,” you might say. Well, by chance, one of the arenas in the game takes place on the moon, with the moon in the background. It’s especially cool (in one or more ways) and looks like something directly from a sci-fi movie (or perhaps 1960s NASA footage).

Starfield
The vast expanse of Starfield’s vast environment, including over 1,000 Starfield planets, Starfield House to buy and sell, the resources you gather, and the Starfield companions you know and love (yes, that means there’s Starfield romance there) are like any other space game you play. The Starfield review talks about the various daunting activities, the pure expanse of the universe, and how Bethesda Game Studios has made powerful swings in what appears to be impossible tasks.
If you’re already diving into the space game, check out Starfield’s walkthrough. If it’s your type, it’ll be straight and narrow. We’ve put together some of the best Starfield builds so you can jump in and start blasting.
Honkai Star Rail
It features intergalactic train lines as a mysterious pioneer and explores the world facing Stellaron, the world’s cancer. With each world offering a very different feel (from dreamy landscapes to places based on Chinese history), Honkai Star Rail offers a very diverse range and keeps it fresh with regular updates.
There are also plenty of Honkai Star Rail characters to unlock, each offering a slightly different way to get closer to combat and exploration. There are some notable similarities to the previous Genshin influence, but its JRPG mechanics means that it can withstand as another clear experience that allows you to spend countless hours even if you’re already playing Genshin. Mobile Crossplay also allows you to start on your PC and then continue playing the game while you’re out.

Eve Online
This has been an outstanding space game for a long time and you might be allowed to think that it is the only space game that exists. Without a doubt, Eve Online is one of the most interesting things, down to the fact that he is playing on the same mega server, rather than having to endure the disconnected reality offered by many fantasy contemporaries.
Players join together to form a fleet of thousands, alliances of tens of millions, all surrounded by the region, all supported by a broad supply chain of miners, traders, researchers and manufacturers. There is nothing else in terms of scale and substance. For example, the Eve ship worth ISK 39 billion is only one of the three that exist – destroyed by a spy embedded in the ship’s owner’s organization. Yes, there’s nothing like a story created by Eve’s incredible community.
Online games on this scale are not without their downsides. It has a reputation for being a bastard, but after updating the user interface, graphics, and some near-constant rationalizations of the game’s more ambiguous systems, today’s eve is not as difficult to approach than the single-player Bosom companion X and the elite.
We also receive regular updates like The Eve Online: Invasion extension. Players are blinded to the drifter, a sudden attack from the former passive NPC faction, in moves designed to stir up trouble, and require constant vigilance and cooperation to prove the dangerous world of the new Eden.
The new player experience is continuously streamlined, but it is still challenging, especially if you are aiming to carve out a small empire for yourself within a few weeks. Give the opportunity to fight with Eve’s online beginner’s guide.
There’s no man’s sky
Space is an unconquered, never-ending scenery. The desire to explore the unknown also forms the charm of Norman’s sky. This uses procedural generation to prevent you from reaching the end of a recreational space with more than 18 planets to explore.
However, exploration is not all about no one, as you need to find a way to survive. The most important thing to your success in doing that is mastering game trading and combat. Man’s Sky was not released the smoothest, but ever since, the latest mountains have stabilized the ship, adding everything from deep ocean exploration to basic architecture, maintaining a dedicated, loving fan base that has purchased billboard spaces, especially outside the offices of Hello Games.
No Man’s Sky: For example, beyond the update, we have significantly overhauled some aspects of the game, introducing nearby stock space, VR compatibility, and more important multiplayer components. There are constant and enormous expansions that continue to be seen, like the update to No Man’s Sky Origins, “doubling game diversity.”
Stellaris
Stellaris, Paradox’s 4x Grand Strategy Hybrid, initially evokes Crusader Kings 2, but once again surprises the space thanks to the upcoming event chain. In Stellaris, you should expect mutant uprisings, robotic rebellions, and discovering alien texts that will raise your citizens’ questions about their status in the galaxy.
It’s not a four times more game. This is a galaxy role-playing game and empire sim that awards players with enormous options and allows them to create unique and eccentric space-first species. You can play as a fundamentalist society built on the backs of slaves and hyper-intelligent lizards who rely on robots, whether they’re fighting or farming. The creators of robust species and many meaningful decisions mean that you can create almost every alien you can imagine.
And what underlies all of this is the focus of exploring the game. While most Space 4X games stick to one way of interstellar travel, Stellaris has three options. Each has its own strengths and counters. In one game, galaxies may be a network of hyperlanes, but in the next game you may notice that they will build wormhole stations and flash throughout the galaxy.
Stellaris multiplayer should not be overlooked either, turning a decent human into a Machiavelli alien tyrant with a hat. Check out our Best Stellaris DLC and Stellaris Guide: A guide to tips and tricks for beginners.
Kerbal Space Program
Of course, the first order to do something in space is to get there. Unfortunately, most games in this other great game make a rather wild assumption that rocket science is not that important and skip towards violence, free market capitalism, and businesses that spread all sorts of human diseases in every corner of the various galaxy. Thankfully, the space program that Kerbals fatefully applies is actually quite grounded in the sense that the game’s purpose is to avoid colliding with objects.
The Kerbal Space Program is ostensibly about trial and error, and this is relatively simple, as it first builds a vessel that can move the payload away from the ground. You will soon realize that going through the Kalman line is one thing. Thankfully, your cornering passengers appear to be very pleased to be sacrificed for greater benefits for a fundamental understanding of astrophysics, so trial and error is just as involved and entertained as fleeting success.
Reading the Kerbal Space Program Review offers many successes to aim for. Reach Mun (Née Moon), unfolds a modular space station, and mining on distant planets is achievable. Not only is it a bloody, good space game, but KSP could be a community-rich sandbox game since Minecraft and was greatly helped by Kerbal Space Program Mods.
Homeworld Remastered Collection
Homeworld is a game that gets you in your mind and stays there. Originally appeared 15 years ago, it eventually produced an expansion, a great sequel and more recently a Homeworld Remastered Collection. This is an outstanding series. It is also one of the rare strategy games with a tragic, hopeful and wonderful storyline, filled with tension. It is a voyage of discovery, struggling desperately to learn about the past and create a future. It’s beautiful and a little sad.
Thanks to Gearbox’s Homeworld Remastering efforts, these classic PC games are even more beautiful. Now the game appears in our memories, even those who are clouded by nostalgia, have their beautifully detailed ships and huge universe backgrounds. And thanks to its minimalist UI, none of its beauty is obscured.
Watching a game in action is like watching an epic ballet. Small ships form in all directions and fly. The giant armed capital ship floats around the vast mother ship. A hard-working collection of resources works to promote large-scale businesses. Even the largest containers are war-cared by the size of the 3D map, and when the camera is zoomed out, they appear vulnerable on their own. That’s exactly what they are.
Outer Wild
Don’t confuse it with the outer world. Another great space game of 2019, we’ll explain in no time. Your goal is to learn as much as possible about the mystical alien race, Nomai, but how the mystery unlocks is up to you.
There are several different planets to explore and a 20-minute time loop that neatly book your adventure. So we aim to discover a little more about the world before the progress is partially reset. The soulful, crammed with mystery, the outer wild will either swallow it all at once or treat each 20-minute time loop as a fresh bite, knocking down the treat.
The outside world
Obsidian’s eccentric and satirical spatial RPG brings you freshly thawed colonial you on an adventure across space as you try to steal the rest of your compares. Outer World, a kind of post-capitalist soaiman with Mega Ultra Giga Corp in charge of the colony itself, eschews the appeal of Bethesda’s Fallout series.
The original The Outer Worlds Review had some different ideas about the game, but focused on “some instances of true greatness.” Nonetheless, Outer World remains a solid favorite among us, and now is the perfect time to dive in as there is an Outer World 2 release date along the way.
Elite danger
Thirty years after first displaying BBC Micro, the Elite Series has returned in the form of elite danger. It was written thousands of times for a while in alpha and beta form, and was enough time for countless pirates, bounty hunters, traders and explorers to play. So we already knew it would be a bit impressive.
Our playgrounds are the whole galaxy. Not only the galaxy, but the Milky Way is reproduced here on a terrifying scale. It is inhabited by black holes, huge suns, space anomalies, and spacecraft, flying around like tiny spots of dust on a large table that is unimaginable. Still familiar to veterans who jumped over the Cosmos in 1984, they were promoted by heart-wrenching high-tech when only 256 planets were in a very impressive number. But the way you carve out your life for yourself is pretty much the same, whether you become a trader or not, whether you fill your cargo holds with algae and microchips or fighting in interstellar wars.
The base game is a great space sim, but thanks to elite dangerous mods, players are improving it with ship AIS chats that respond to voice commands, etc. And if you are lucky enough to have an Oculus Rift, you will be nervous until your ship is out of control and you run your head into a sick bag. If that’s what you’re excited to harp into a cobra tied up and black, start your space adventure with our Elite: Dangerous Guide.
Infinite Space 2
To say that a 4x designer is probably fourx designers is something that appears naturally from the interaction of the system of a strategy game: a border conflict, an unexpected war. Amplitude Studios doesn’t think it would be a big excuse. They packed as much science fiction as possible into Endless Space 2. And that’s enough, considering it has an entire galaxy to fill.
Here you will find living crystals, small dragons, recycled war machines, and millions of clones named Horatio. It’s a universe filled with quirky ideas to enjoy and then enslaved if you’re such an explorer. Otherwise, you can play as a bundle of sensory trees and spread the olive branches throughout the known space.
It’s less of an imagination than traditional grand strategies. Scrap is solved with a beautiful 3D battle engine in dramatic, interplanetary ballet, where you can see your elaborate ship floating in the blank. It’s like a football manager, but in chrome it’s faster than a bright monolith. Isn’t that something that Sega catalogs have been missing up until now? If you want persuasiveness, read the Shining Endless Space 2 review. It’s been years since the game started, but even so, the endless space 2 players count looks strong.
Master of the Orion Series
Fans have been arguing since the last century which of Orion’s Master (MOO) games is better in the series, and it appears that the third game is definitely not.
Released in 1993, Orion Master embraced Sid Meyer’s notion of classic turn-based civilizations and applied them to the entire planetary galaxy, instead of the various flavors of human settlers and earthly biomes. Although it is reproductive rate during the ice age, it can thrive in the most hostile environments.
The driving forces of the MOO series and the best strategy game since then were technological advancements and colonialism, but this was the first game to truly nail diplomacy, providing a route to victory that could achieve some degree of galactic peace. The sequel went further, with a customizable race and a political victory that demanded him be elected the Galaxy Supreme Leader.
What cannot be denied is that the first two MOO games are important historical references as the first two DOOM games established and defined FPS, and as a key impact on turn-based space conquest. Unlike Doom, however, Moo casts a very long monolith-shaped shadow across the entire space game genre, and many have argued that Orion Game hasn’t been dug in it yet.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition
Mass Effect Legendary Edition remasters the original game into one neat bundle, providing Space Explorers with the ultimate experience. As Jen said in his impressions of Mass Effect Legendary Edition, “This is the new best way to play the trilogy.”
Certainly, for the newcomers of Mass Effect, there aren’t many spaceship vibes or favorites to enjoy in the trilogy, but it’s still a planetary hopping, an adventure in aliens and space that raises aliens, and one of the best sci-fi RPG games you could play.
Mass Effect boasts a powerful story and set of characters. Despite its complete lack of direct spacecraft control, it commands a functional ship with the ability to explore galaxies.
Similarities have been drawn between Mass Effect Trilogy and the Classic Exploration Series Starflight, particularly by BioWare itself, and especially by BioWare. From a storyline perspective, all knowledgeable gubins, where all ancient techniques are knowledgeable, Mass Effect’s storyline is very close to Starflight. Indeed, Starflight could be considered the 70s original of Mass Effect’s BSG-style Gritty Reimagining, only without the Risible Galactica 80 spinoff series, for the Risible Galactica 80 spinoff series to gain its reputation.
FTL: Faster than light
Space is terrible and will probably kill you. It’s a lesson that FTL tries to convey to the brave spaceship. The Permadeath Ship Management game is, on the surface, a simple race that brings information to the hands of allies, but is chased. Once all the detours are explored, the enemy fleet gets closer and closer. Even if you stay in front of them, random deaths are lurking in every corner.
There are random violent encounters, eruptions of shopping, new worlds and races, unlockable ships and compositions, loads and loads of strange and amazing weapons and tools. You can see them using Ion Cannon to disable enemy systems and drones and manage tough containers that are laser-painted. Another might use mind control to urge enemies and teleporters to bury the ship with their crew.
That could cause so many problems. Sometimes it’s your fault. Like when you try to ruin the fight and quickly try to patch up hull violations and put out the fire. But when the space station agrees to deal with the epidemic and help one of the crew get sick, luck may not be on your side. But all the failed attempts are a complete tale full of adventure and unfortunate adventures, and a great excuse for another brave attempt.
The Sins of the Sun Empire: Rebellion
A type of empire building that is only available in games that have successfully combined the best 3D real-time strategies, although without a proper single-player campaign.
The Sin of the Sun Empire: Rebellion is played on a user-defined network of stars. Players begin to create empires around the planet’s gravity wells with shipyards, pre-research post bases, extractors and defense systems, then combine frigates, corvettes, cruisers and capital ships to map nearby systems and ultimately conquer them.
In previous versions of the Sin of the Sun Empire, conquest was primarily achieved in the outdated RTS fashion, in which you drag a huge box around all your ships you own, allowing the pure power of numbers to win that day towards the enemy system. However, with the previous expansion as part of the standalone rebellion of 2012 and the introduction of diplomatic victory in research and occupational victory, Titan ships like the new Death Star can often pursue the game as a potential victory strategy, as counters as much needed counters for highly impaired star-based structures. And don’t forget the mods that allow you to play Galactica fantasies of your Star Wars and Battlestars.
X4: Basics
If you’re following a realistically simulated universe filled with spaceships, stations and lots of trade, X4:Foundations has everything you need. X4 gives players the opportunity to realize space fantasy by offering a variety of game start.
Despite returning in 2018, Egosoft, the developer behind the X4, has been supporting the game with massive updates over the years. Not only did we see the release of the 6.0 update, which upgraded the game engine, but we also pushed the modification scene as the community received the blender mods for the first time.
Whether you’re playing as a space pirate attacking illicit ships with little consideration for human life or as a businessman trying to make fortune, the X4 is designed to shape the universe the way you want it to. Even if you spend thousands of hours trying to solidify your station, know that it’s just one of the offensive batches of fighters to stop you in your truck. If you wanted more from Starfield’s space combat, consider picking up X4:Foundations and experiencing the space from a new perspective.
Destiny 2
Due to all the peaks and troughs of the past decade, Destiny 2 has remained our solid favorite. Between Bungie’s smooth gunplay, the gorgeous recreation of the solar system and immersive storytelling, there’s a lot to do with D2.
The final shape is the conclusion of the bright saga that has been sustaining since the launch of the D2, but perhaps the perfect time to take part in the irony. Bungie has dramatically improved the new player (new light) experience, but the new prism class offers a huge amount of customization when mixing and matching abilities across the class.
In Cheri Faulkner’s 10/10 Destiny 2: The Final Shape Review, she said, “By 10 years of worthy stories, conflicts and relationships in the most engaging and emotionally satisfying ways possible. Bungee’s best story team doesn’t have to be at the top of FPS, enough to say, it’s pretty good. If you choose to hop to D2, be sure to check out Destiny 2: The Final Shape Guide to help you get started.
Helldivers 2
Helldivers 2 is the ultimate space game, allowing you to take players on a journey through the entire galaxy and remove the alien threats that spread throughout the universe. In this third-person shooter game, teams of up to four players gather in a group and participate in missions where certain targets need to be eliminated. You need to equip the weapons of the best Heldiebirds 2 weapons to eliminate threats, complete targets, and escape the planet without causing casualties.
What makes Helldivers 2 special is the amount of chaos caused on the battlefield. Whether it’s a giant insect, a wave of robot creatures, or a strange lighting fan added to the game in December 2024, every mission has a huge variety. Pair all this action with friendly fire and you have a mayhem stage set for yourself as your teammates fight to stay alive from the strategies that appear.
Void Crew
The friendship between Star Trek crews makes the franchise so iconic and beloved. Well, Void Crew does an amazing job with that, allowing you and your team to humanize the spaceship, travel across the galaxy, and travel through the rescue section while regaining human territory.
A solid crew has no problem taking on the role and completing the job, but it’s also a fun time when things go crazy. However, if you can set up yourself for victory, you will soon be able to find valuable resources to quickly improve your Space Furling ship while fighting dangerous enemies.
Dead Space (2023)
Many games showcase the vastness of space and space with a sense of freedom, but in dead spaces the threat of alien life is a fear that humans cannot begin to understand. In this remake of the original game you play as Issac Clarke. IssacClarke is an engineer unhappy enough to board a ship with a vicious alien called Necromorphs, and well, well, not at all friendly.
Like horror games like Resident Evil, Dead Space is forced to enter tight corridors. Monsters are scattered beyond imagination running through this desolate ship’s context. Luckily, you are armed with some great sci-fi weapons that make it easier to deal with threats, but don’t expect it to take a walk through the parks of this world.
Cubic Odyssey
If you have a baby in Minecraft and No Man’s Sky, it could be similar to a cube Odyssey. Now, early access on Steam, create resources, tools, weapons, build vehicles and explore large galaxies that each planet offers bustling life and danger. This gives you many reasons to visit each world.
Developed for both solo players and friends, it is a great time for people who love the idea of exploring the endless universe and reaching for the stars. But be careful, Red Dark is an infection on a gal scale and cultivates an ugly head, so you have to incorporate it before you can consume all the planets.
