The Blood of Dawnwalker Will Give Players the Freedom to Skip Meeting Entire Factions

The developer’s Rebels are not keeping a secret the fact that it is one of the biggest features about upcoming RPGs Dawnwalker’s Blood This is the concept of “story sandbox.” In a recent interview with Xbox Wire, creative director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz spoke quite a bit about the idea, revealing that it gives players the freedom to approach the story and could also overlook the way they want.

“We wanted the players to control the story as much as possible. It’s a clear purpose, but a lot of the paths to achieving that,” Tomaszkiewicz said. “It’s a unique strength of video games as a medium of storytelling for us: player agency. The way games adapt to your actions.”

He also explains that this means that players must choose when it comes to the position of the protagonist Cohen as a vampire and how he interacts with the various factions. For example, Cohen does not decide to match a human rebellion or even meet a rebellion despite finishing the game.

“Some players may accept the vampire’s side and succumb to the temptation,” he explained. “Others may stick to their humanity and reject the monsters inside them, and they can match human rebellion or complete the game without filling them.

“This open, player-driven approach is what we call the story sandbox. It’s a core philosophy of storytelling.”

Tomaszkiewicz also talked about how combat works Dawnwalker’s BloodCohen explains that training at the hands of his father gives him access to classic medieval fighting styles. Cohen can also learn magic. Tomaszkiewicz explained that it has spellcasting in it Dawnwalker’s Blood It is “dark and grounded” and is linked to the concepts of blood, heat and air.

“As a human, he also learns how to use magic. He has a dark, primitive origin based on life, rituals,” he said. “We are not going high fantasy routes with colorful explosions. Our spells are dark and grounded. They are tied to blood, heat and air. This seems to be pulsating and breathing. The sight can be astounding, but in order to cast a spell, you have to literally run the horse and open your body to get into the spell.

This is not the first time Tomaszkiewicz has spoken about the freedom players have in the “story sandbox” offered by players. Dawnwalker’s Blood. In February, he revealed that players have complete freedom to kill NPCs, even important to the story.

In yet another interview from Back in January, Tomaszkiewicz explained that the term “story sandbox” comes from the way the Rebel wolves used to create worlds, stories, and quests. Dawnwalker’s Blood.

Blood of Dawnwalker recently got a trailer revealing gameplay. It also informed me that I’d be coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/s in 2026.
